the grapevine is a community of people who share information of interest, and do other things, including paddle-boat rides, bath salts, air karaoke, just to name a few things in a list.  the motd instance of the grapevine is not the grapevine itself, but rather our cooperative place to craft things we call sometimes “datelines” or “fodder” or “gossip” but are essentially messages of the day, that is, an experience or set thereof that occurs within the grapevine and is made into a well-structured standalone entry for a log.  above all, the motd/grapevine is a log that is part of the sdf.org-powered motd.org family, which is powered by wordpress at the moment; soon we will put our original software at thegrapevine.cc and it should explain more clearly what exactly this organization isn’t, and possibly even what it is.
